What's The Skinny On Fat?
Nobody likes to hear about it, or see it, but it's always there. When we eat the foods we love, we all get it. Fat. Fat is what gives cheesecake that rich, creamy taste, and what makes movie theatre popcorn, well, movie theatre popcorn. Yum, I can feel it melting in my mouth right now.

With all the fat we eat, no wonder it's such a shunned word in the English language. Still, we need fat to store energy, insulate our bodies, provide a cushion for our organs, and to maintain healthy, glowing skin and hair. The fat we eat comes in two forms: saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fat is found mostly in animal foods. Plants and fish are a rich source of unsaturated fats.

Wait, there's more. Like aminos, there are some fats which our bodies cannot make on their own. We can only get them from the foods we eat. These “essential” fats are referred to as essential fatty acids (EFA). EFAs are derived from unsaturated fats, and they can actually help promote healthy cholesterol levels and even promote efficient fat loss.

Unfortunately, you can't get EFAs from cakes or ice cream. These good fats are mostly found in deep water fish and plants. Since most people do not get their recommended daily allowance of fish each day, turn to a quality supplement like E.F.A. Complex. E.F.A. Complex is a plant-based (flaxseed oil) essential fatty acid supplement that's rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. For more information on EFAs, check out this article.
